Mary-Ann Tatum : Mariah Carey's friend and backup singerMary-Ann has been Mariah's backup singer since the "Butterfly" era. She actually spends a lot of time with Mariah. Their relationship isn't strictly professional though. She is often invited to her place. She appeared on "Cribs," the MTV show in which Mariah showed her new apartment. She's often around when Mariah records an audio message for her fans; we actually get to hear her comments sometimes.
Mary-Ann's voice is very similar to Mariah's. During the shooting of "Glitter," in order to avoid any leak before the soundtrack's official release, Mariah had decided to circulate a phony song on the Internet. The song in question, which was supposed to feature on the soundtrack, was called "Every time;" and Mary-Ann actually sang it instead of Mariah.
